Non-accessible content
“blockRunner” Minigame
The interactive minigame “blockRunner” is based on the platformer genre and, by its very nature, cannot be designed to be fully accessible. The gameplay requires the following:
- Real-time visual perception: Obstacles, platforms, and game objects must be visually perceived in real time. An equivalent non-visual alternative (e.g., auditory or text-based representation) would alter or negate the core gameplay itself.
- Time-sensitive, precise inputs: Success in the game depends on fast, motorically precise reactions. Relaxing the time requirements would fundamentally alter the core gameplay (dexterity and timing).
- Non-readable presentation: The game is rendered via a canvas element whose visual content is not accessible to screen readers and other assistive technologies. A parallel, semantically structured representation of the dynamic game content cannot be implemented without replacing the game’s core functionality.
A fully accessible implementation is not possible for this type of game without abandoning the core gameplay itself.
Since “blockRunner” is an optional entertainment feature that is not required for using the website’s core functions and content, this limitation does not affect access to the website’s essential information and services.
